SR 26 - US 195 - North Fork Palouse River Bridge Repairs

Project news

February 2019

  • WSDOT is working on a preferred solution to construct a new single bridge. This will replace the current two structures. The project will be programmed for construction in 2025.

Winter 2017

  • Submitted bids exceeded the project funding limits and were rejected. The project is postponed.

This project entails work on the SR 26 bridge and US 195 bridge over the north Fork of the Palouse River in north Colfax.

On SR 26, the sidewalk and pedestrian rail will be replaced, using the supports installed in 2015.  A guardrail will be added to protect pedestrians from errant vehicles.

On US 195, girder support repairs are planned.  That work may not take place in 2016.

Why is WSDOT repairing these bridges?
Both structures were constructed in the mid 1930's and need repairs?

The End Result
Extended years of service from the existing structures.

Needs & benefits

Preserving the public's investment in the existing structures.

The SR 26 work is planned for construction in 2016.  Work on the US 195 bridge may have to be delayed until design refinements are completed.
