Overview
This project will improve driving conditions and preserve the highway. Crews will pave from Commercial Avenue/12th Street/Oakes Avenue to the Anacortes ferry terminal in the spring and early summer and from Sharpes Corner to Commercial Avenue roundabouts in July. WSDOT will repave Commercial Avenue at a later date. This project was initially scheduled for construction in 2017 but the single high bid that was received was rejected and the project re-advertised.

Why is WSDOT repaving SR 20 Spur west of Sharpes Corner?
The area was last paved about 20 years ago, and the road is showing signs of wear and tear. There are cracks and potholes in places along the highway. The $6.7 million project will extend the life of the roadway and provide a smoother ride for the more than 30,000 vehicles that use the road every day.

The End Result
This project will extend the life of and improve the ride quality of the highway.
