Overview
WSDOT contractor crews repaved nearly 2 miles of SR 169/the Maple Valley Highway) in Renton, and improved 15 pedestrian sidewalk ramps to meet ADA standards.
Improves safety
The new pavement provides a smoother, safer highway for drivers by eliminating cracks and ruts where water can collect and reduce traction.
Pedestrians have 15 new sidewalk ramps with wider and more gradual slopes, making it easier to cross intersections.
Economic incentive
Repaving this section of SR 169 keeps the highway in good condition by protecting the supporting layers of the roadway. This also extends the lifespan of the highway and reduces the need for costly emergency repairs.
Partnerships & cooperation
WSDOT coordinated with the city of Renton and local neighborhood groups during construction.
Funding
Pre-Existing Funds (PEF) $3.5 million
Total $3.5 million
