SR 164 - SR 18 to 17th St SE - Paving & ADA Compliance - Complete August 2018

Overview

In summer 2018, contractor crews from Tucci & Sons Inc. repaved both directions of State Route 164 between the SR 18 interchange and 17th Street Southeast in Auburn. Contractor crews also upgraded 22 curb ramps to create better sidewalk connections for people of all abilities.

How you benefit

  • Preservation: Grinding, eliminating ruts and repaving improves the driving surface and extends the lifespan of the roadway.
  • Economic: The new pavement reduces the need for emergency repairs, which are costly to taxpayers and can cause additional congestion.
  • Safety: Improving the highway surface eliminates and helps prevent future potholes, cracks and wheel ruts where water can collect. This gives drivers a safer, smoother ride. Reconstructed curb ramps create better sidewalk connections for people of all abilities.

Funding

The cost of this project was $3.2 million.
