I-5 - Elm St. to North Kelso Ave. Interchange - Illumination Rebuild - Complete March 2017

In winter 2018, work began to replace an aging lighting system that lined the interstate, with more efficient LED lighting, reducing maintenance and electricity costs.

The End Result
Improved visibility, reduced maintainability, and improved system efficiency.

Project Benefits
Economic: Newly installed LED lighting systems are more efficient, lowering maintenance and operational costs.
Environmental: LED lighting reduces energy consumption.
Safety: LED lighting is brighter and cleaner and provides better visibility for travelers on the highway.  

Timeline

  • Fall 2017: Project went to competitive bid
  • Late Fall 2017: Contract was awarded to Northeast Electric, LLC on Nov. 20, 2017.
  • Winter 2018: Work began.
  • Late winter 2018: Project completed. 

Due to third party damages, the estimated total cost of this project has not been determined.
