Tips to turn on the orange:
- Orange flood lights can be purchased to temporarily replace regular flood lights.
- Orange gels or orange Plexiglass can be used to turn regular floodlights orange. Make sure they are kept a safe distance from lights that get hot.
- Fountains are great because many have lights that can be set to orange or can be temporarily turned orange with bulbs or gels. Also, the water can be dyed orange.
- Some buildings already have lighting systems that can be set to remain orange.
- Orange luminaries (orange paper bags with sand in the bottom and a candle or battery powered "candle") are another option.
Media and event tips:
- Notify the media why you are turning your fountain, building, landmark, etc., orange.
- Have a ceremony to kick off your effort such as turning on the lights, lighting luminaries, etc.
- Feature something on your web site such as link to this site.
- Put something in your newsletter.
- Participate in other work zone awareness activities.
