CONSTRUCTION 

US 101 - Elwha River Bridge

Lake Crescent Highway Rehab Project

Description: The National Park Service & Federal Highway Administration will rehabilitate 12 miles of Highway 101 around Lake Crescent and 4 miles of East Beach Road to address safety and long‐term maintenance issues.
Work schedule: 4-hour closures of US 101 are scheduled daily Monday through Thursday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

These closures will continue into December until rock bolting work is complete.

Outside scheduled 4-hour closures, drivers should continue to expect up to half-hour delays during weekday work hours.

Traveling in the morning before 7 a.m. and after 7 p.m. may help travelers avoid the half-hour delays.

CONSTRUCTION

SR 8 - Middle and East Forks Wildcat Creek - Remove Fish Barriers

Description: Crews will remove barriers to fish by constructing bridges across the Middle and East Forks of Wildcat Creek.

Work schedule:  Drivers are temporarily using the right lanes of both westbound and eastbound SR 8.

Crews within the next month will reconfigure the eastbound lanes to accommodate both directions of traffic.

Like the first half of this project, crews will shift traffic to create room to build two remaining bridges. The highway will remain in that configuration for approximately 12 months.

The intersection of SR 8 and SR 108 in McCleary remains closed to all traffic around the clock. Drivers can detour via the Mox Chehalis Road interchange.

I-5 - SR 16 Realignment - HOV Structure and Connections

Friday, Dec. 8

• Northbound I-5 exits #136A and #136B to Port of Tacoma Road and 20th Street will close from 11:59 p.m. to 6 a.m. Saturday.
• Two lanes of northbound I-5 will close between Portland Avenue and East Bay Street. Lane closures will begin at 10 p.m. All lanes will reopen by 7:30 a.m. Saturday.
• Eastbound SR 16 to southbound I-5 and 38th Street will close from 11:59 p.m. to 7 a.m. Saturday. Drivers will detour using eastbound SR 16 to the northbound I-5 collector/distributor exit to SR 7 and loop back to southbound I-5.
• Northbound I-5 collector/distributor exit to I-705 will close from 11:59 p.m. to 5 a.m. Saturday.

Saturday, Dec. 9
• Southbound I-5 exit to northbound I-705 and 26th Street will close from 3:30 a.m. to 6:30 a.m.

• East 38th Street on-ramp to northbound State Route 7 will close from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. Wednesday.
• Southbound Interstate 705 ramp to northbound I-5 will close from 11 p.m. to 4 a.m. Wednesday.

Wednesday, Dec. 13

Thursday, Dec. 14
Southbound I-5
• Southbound SR 167 ramp to southbound I-5 will close from 8 p.m. to 5:30 a.m. Friday.
• Southbound I-5 will be reduced to a single lane between the Puyallup River to Portland Avenue. Single, double and triple lane closures will begin at 8 p.m., 10 p.m. and 11 p.m. respectively. All lanes will be open by 6:30 a.m. Friday.
• Southbound I-705 ramp to southbound I-5 will close from 11 p.m. to 6 a.m. Friday.

Northbound I-5
• Northbound I-5 exits #136A and #136B to Port of Tacoma Road and 20th Street will close from 11:59 p.m. to 4 a.m. Friday.
• Two lanes of northbound I-5 will close from L Street to the Puyallup River. Lane closures will begin at 10 p.m. All lanes will reopen by 5 a.m. Friday.
• Northbound SR 7 ramp to northbound I-705 will close from 11 p.m. to 6 a.m. Friday.

Long-term ramp closure:
The southbound I-5 ramp to SR 7 is closed around the clock through the fall of 2017. Drivers who use the SR 7 ramp are being detoured using northbound I-705, the SR 509 interchange and southbound I-705.
During the closure, crews are reconstructing the ramp so it matches the new alignment of I-5. Crews are also building permanent retention ponds, installing drains and electrical components, and advancing work on the McKinley Street overpass.

I-5 Mounts Rd to Center Dr. - Auxiliary Lane Extension

I-5 Mounts Rd Vicinity VMS Install

I-5, Point Defiance Bypass - Sound Transit Track and Signal, BNSF Railroad Bridge

Description: Point Defiance Bypass Project will reroute passenger trains to an inland rail line along the west side of I-5 through south Tacoma, Lakewood, and DuPont.

Work schedule: Final train track testing is underway. Drivers who cross the tracks should be prepared for minor delays that occur as trains pass through the intersections. At times, police officers will be stationed at intersections to promote safety. Drivers and pedestrians are urged to always follow good rail safety guidelines.

Beginning Monday, Dec. 18: This train route will be permanently used by 14 daily passenger trains traveling up to 79 mph. Trains will travel in both directions and most will pass through this area between 6:30 a.m. and 10:30 p.m. However, delays in schedules make it important to stay alert and expect trains at any time, day or night.


SR 16, Union Ave to Jackson Ave. - ADA Ramps

SR 162, SR 410 to S 96th ST E- Paving and ADA Compliance
