Work is under way to construct a 959-foot long tunnel connecting the Bremerton Transportation Center and SR 304, milepost 2.57 to 3.51, near the Bremerton Ferry Terminal. The project includes pavement repair, sidewalk installation, illumination systems, traffic signal systems and pavement markings, permanent signing, and construction of a new Washington State Ferries (WSF) administration building, toll collection booths and a toll booth canopy. A signed detour route diverts traffic around the work zone using city streets for the duration of the project. There is no vehicle access to the Kitsap Naval Shipyard’s First Street gate. Signed road closures and detours are in place. Traffic and Kitsap Transit will access the ferry dock and transit deck via Pacific Avenue. Traffic for ferry-passenger pick-up and drop-off is diverted down Second Street.
