One lane of traffic in each direction was maintained throughout the paving process.

Overview
This preservation project paved 8.5 miles of the highway from Leavenworth to Cashmere. Construction began April 9th and was complete August 9th, 2007.

How You Benefit
Cross GlyphImproves Safety
This project provides a smoother driving surface. It also included a new right turn lane for westbound traffic at Deadman Hill/Saunders Rd.  New signs, delineators, recessed pavement markers and striping improved safety, as well.
Dollar Sign Glyph Economic Incentive
The repaving project prevents further deterioration to the existing roadway at the least possible "life cycle" cost.

Partnerships & Cooperation
This project included the US 2/97 Dryden Signal "Nickel" project, producing significant cost savings.

Funding

The project was advertised for private contractor bids in October, bids were opened on November 16th, 2006 and a contract for $3,319,470.45 (15% under the engineering estimate) was awarded to Central Washington Asphalt, inc.

This project was funded through the following sources:

Pre-existing gas tax - $4.7 million
Total funding from all sources - $4.7 million
