This Safety Improvement Collision Reduction project addressed a High Accident Location on US 2/97 at Cashmere. Construction began May 5 and was complete on July 30, 2008.
This project was renamed US 2/97 West of Cashmere-Safety Improvements and combined with another project that installed concrete median barrier on US 2/97 west of Cashmere.
The project reduces conflicts between turning vehicles and through traffic, with a signal and further improves safety with the addition of advanced warning beacons that alert highway traffic that the signal is about to change. Night time illumination installed as part of this project improves safety at the intersection, as well.
