Overview
This Safety Improvement Project installed a new traffic signal, right and left turn channelization and advance warning beacons at Dryden on US 2/97. Construction began in April and was completed on August 1st, 2007

How You Benefit
Cross GlyphImproves Safety
The signal and new turn pockets reduce the potential for collisions at this intersection. Advanced warning beacons alert drivers that the signal is changing.
Car GlyphRelieves Congestion
The signal reduces waiting time for large trucks bound for fruit processing facilities in Dryden.  The project also included a new LINK Transit bus pullout and shelter.
Dollar Sign Glyph Economic Incentive
This project significantly improves timely access for pear trucks getting to the processing facilities in Dryden.
By combining this project with the Leavenworth to Cashmere Paving project, construction was advanced by a year and costs were significantly reduced.

Partnerships & Cooperation
The 2002 US 2/97 Safety Corridor Study (pdf 1.86 mb) recommends short and long term projects to address intersection safety between the Big Y interchange and Wenatchee. The Dryden signal had the highest cost/benefit ratio among the projects recommended in the study.
