Overview
This is a safety improvement project. Based on traffic collision data, US 12 between mileposts 7 and 8 was identified as a high accident corridor.
WSDOT identified and built cost-effective safety improvements to reduce the frequency and severity of collisions.
Construction started in April 2008 and was completed in June 2008.
 | Improves Safety
A relocated right-turn lane from eastbound US 12 to Clemons Road. The new lane increases sight distance for motorists turning onto US 12.
A wider, longer merge lane for motorists headed westbound on US 12 from the south side of Clemons road. The longer merge lane provides motorists more time to reach highway speeds before merging with westbound US 12 traffic.
Additional improvements include improved lighting, new guardrail, a wider roadway, and removal of potential roadside hazards.

 | Relieves Congestion
Safety improvements at the Clemons Road intersection also improve mobility.
|
