Overview
This section of US 101 was closed in November 2006 when record rainfall caused a debris slide.
We placed a soldier pile barrier wall parallel to US 101 to restrain future debris slides and improve safety. US 101 provides vital access to the Hood Canal area and the Olympic Peninsula for Washington residents and visitors.

A new soldier pile wall will serve as a debris catcher for future slides.
By reducing the threat of slides and delays, the route will be safer and more reliable.

Partnerships & Cooperation
Communication with the public was provided through the Mason County Journal and the WSDOT Web site.
Funding
This project was funded through FHWA emergency funding and federal and state bonds.
