Timber on the Hoquiam River Bridge was severely weathered.

Overview
WSDOT replaced both of the West Fork Hoquiam River bridges due to structural deficiencies. The new bridges are concrete and meet current seismic and engineering standards.

How You Benefit
Cross GlyphImproves Safety
This project addressed bridge safety concerns. The two timber bridges over the West Fork Hoquiam River suffered rot damage and were severely weathered. Replacing these bridges with new bridges improves motorist safety.
Leaf Glyph Protects Environment
This project improved the natural flow of the river by removing the piles from the river. The new single span concrete bridges did not require construction in the river.

Partnerships & Cooperation
WSDOT awarded the contract  to Ross Bros. & Company, Inc. of Salem, Oregon. Construction began May 2008 and two-way traffic was restored September 2009.
