SR 9 - Lake Stevens Road to 20th Street SE - Complete August 2010

Overview
Snohomish County Public Works completed a project to reduce congestion and improve travel time on the 20th Street SE corridor in the Lake Stevens area. As part of the project, WSDOT provided funding to improve safety and reduce congestion on SR 9 between South Lake Stevens Road and 20th Street SE.

Crews added one lane in each direction and turn lanes at two intersections. They also improved lighting along the corridor, upgraded the traffic signal at one intersection and replaced a bridge to accommodate the wider roadway.

Initially, the project called for turn restrictions at SR 9 and South Lake Stevens Road. Based on further review of the intersection and feedback from the community, WSDOT decided to continue to allow left turns from northbound SR 9 to South Lake Stevens Road and from South Lake Stevens Road to northbound SR 9. We will continue to monitor the intersection and will make changes in the future if necessary.
