This project is scheduled to advertise for construction bid in February 2011.

Why is WSDOT doing this seismic retrofit?
This project modifies the columns supporting the State Route (SR) 8 overpass to improve seismic stability and reduce the risk of catastrophic failure.

The End Result
The support columns will be strengthened to reduce the risk of failure in the event of an earthquake.
