  • We are in the process of designing this project.

Why is WSDOT replacing the Davis Slough Bridge, and widening and raising the highway?
The highway and bridge were built more than 60 years ago and are not tall enough or strong enough to withstand flooding from high tides and storms. It's important to raise and protect the highway; it's the only road on and off Camano Island for the 15,000 residents.

The End Result
We’re going to raise and widen State Route 532 between Smith and Eide roads (¾ of a mile) and replace the Davis Slough Bridge to help improve and protect the highway from storms, high tides and floods. We will:
- Raise the highway 3 feet across the island.
- Raise the bridge 9 feet.
- Add 14-foot wide shoulders.
- Add a 4-foot wide striped median.

Project Benefits
It’s important that we raise the highway and replace the bridge to maintain safe and secure access to Camano Island.

The 14-foot shoulders will accommodate bicyclists and pedestrians, and it will allow room for breakdowns.
