Overview
Crews built a missing link in the sidewalk system on the south side of SR 531. This section of sidewalk provides safe access for school children walking along SR 531, and for area residents using the Lakewood business district. It is adjacent to four schools in the Lakewood school district and connects to the Community Transit stop.

The new sidewalk will reduce the risk of pedestrian accidents involving school children and local residents.

This project benefits the environment by providing better treatment for rain water runoff.

Partnerships & Cooperation
WSDOT worked with contractor Wilder Construction of Everett to build the new sidewalks.
Funding
This project is funded through the following sources:
- 2005 Gas Tax (Partnership Funding) - $493,391
- Existing Funds - $200,001
- Total Funding Available from All Sources - $693,392
