Overview
We have finalized our recommendations for future improvements for the SR 531 corridor. The recommendations are documented in our final report (pdf 4 mb). You can also download our folio (pdf 660 kb) to learn more about the study.
 | Improves Safety
The corridor analysis identified current and future mobility and safety issues on SR 531. The final report includes recommendations for improving safety on the corridor.

 | Relieves Congestion
Drivers on SR 531 between 43rd Ave NE and 67th Ave NE in Arlington experience congestion due to increasing traffic volumes. Future growth forecasted for the surrounding area will add even more vehicles to the roadway. The final report includes recommendations for improving traffic flow and reducing congestion on the corridor.

Partnerships & Cooperation
Together with the city of Arlington, we began studying safety and mobility issues on SR 531 through Arlington in fall 2008. We conducted a corridor pre-design analysis to identify congestion and safety problems on the corridor between 43rd Ave NE and 67th Ave NE and develop potential solutions. We released our final recommendations in March 2010.
The pre-design analysis study helped to identify issues that might delay or increase costs during design and construction of future projects. Identifying these risks will allow WSDOT to continue with design to develop a more reliable footprint and preliminary cost estimates for possible improvements.
