SR 530 - Skaglund Hill - Permanent Slide Repair - Completed November 2012

Overview
In February 2006, WSDOT maintenance crew found a rapidly growing crack on SR 530 caused by slope movement. The crack continued to grow at a fast rate, and required emergency repairs.

Due to the potential for a landslide destroying a portion of the roadway, engineers built a wall to protect the roadway and drivers. Crews also installed drainage to help stabilize the hillside.

How You Benefit
Cross GlyphImproves Safety
SR 530 is an important route for many drivers. Protecting the roadway protects the safety of drivers and also keeps this route open for emergency responders. It can also be used as an alternate route if emergencies shut down other main roadways.
Leaf Glyph Protects Environment
Drainage systems such as culverts and ditches were upgraded or replaced to help prevent erosion in large storms.
