Project Facts

  • More than 36,700 vehicles travel through this intersection every day.
  • In 2002, this intersection was ranked 25th out of 297 for needing a signal.
  • We created 180 feet of left turn only lanes on SR 527.

Overview
We built a new signal at the intersection of 186th Place SE and SR 527 in Mill Creek. We also relocated a business access across from 186th Pl SE, converted two-way left-turn lanes into left-turn-only lanes, built a bus stop on the west side of SR 527 and upgraded the street lights.

How You Benefit
Cross GlyphImproves Safety
Reduced the risk of collisions by realigning the business access, adding a new signal and left-turn only lanes. Pedestrians also benefit from new lighting.

Partnerships & Cooperation
In May 2007 we awarded the contract to the most competitive bidder, Valley Electric Co. of Mt. Vernon, Inc. of Everett. Construction began in September 2007 and was completed in June 2008.

At WSDOT we seek to address the concerns of the tribal nations using the process outlined in Section 106 of The National Historic Preservation Act and the WSDOT Tribal Consultation Policy adopted in 2003 by the Transportation Commission as part of the WSDOT Centennial Accord Plan.

To learn more about the tribal consultation process please visit WSDOT's Tribal Liaison page, where you'll find links to WSDOT Centennial Accord Plan and WSDOT's Tribal Consultation Policy (Adopted by the Transportation Commission on February 19, 2003).
