SR 522 - I-5 to I-405 - Multimodal Project - NE 153rd Signal and Roadway Widening - Comptete October 2007

Overview
Through this project, crews installed a traffic signal, crosswalk, and transit pull-out at NE 153rd Street, constructed sidewalks to improve pedestrian safety, and replaced two-way left-turn lanes with raised medians and designated turn pockets to enhance driver safety.

Tri-State Construction crews began construction on this project in fall 2006 and completed the project in October 2007, a month ahead of schedule.

How You Benefit
Cross GlyphImproves Safety
Designated left-turn pockets, medians, and raised curbing improve driver safety by separating fast-moving two-way traffic. Sidewalks enhance safety by removing pedestrians from the shoulder of the roadway, and the new signal and crosswalk at NE 153rd Street provide a safe pedestrian crossing across this busy highway.
Car GlyphRelieves Congestion
Transit pull-outs remove stopped buses from traffic and reduce travel time by approximately four minutes along the corridor.
