SR 516 - 208th and 209th Ave SE - Complete August 2007

Overview
WSDOT added a two way left-turn lane from 207th Avenue to 209th Avenue on the border of Covington and Maple Valley, and widened lanes and shoulders to meet current design standards. We also built bus pull-outs with sidewalks on either side of the road and installed street lighting throughout the project.

How You Benefit
Cross GlyphImproves Safety
Reduces likelihood of rear-end collisions that can occur while drivers wait to turn left. New lighting improves visibility, allowing drivers to make better decisions about turning or pulling into traffic.
Car GlyphRelieves Congestion
Through traffic will no longer back up waiting for left-turning vehicles.

Partnerships & Cooperation
In June 2004 WSDOT initiated Section 106 consultation with the Yakama, Muckleshoot, Duwamish, and Kikiallus tribes. We produced a cultural resource survey for the project area in February 2005 and sent it to the tribes for their review and comments. The State Historic Preservation Officer (SHPO) concurred with the survey in March 2005.
