Clearer striping and better signage, along with better distance visibility will enhance safety conditions on SR 503.


Status

February 2009

  • Improved signage has been installed and brush was removed to improve sight distance.
  • Striping improvements, guideposts and reflective pavement markers will be installed later this summer.
  • The project is scheduled for completion by late summer 2008.

Overview
This project will make safety improvements on SR 503 at the Gabriel Road Intersection. Low cost enhancements such as improved signing, striping and sight distance improvements will be made to create a safer roadway.

Why is WSDOT making these improvements?
The project will be completed in order to enhance safety on this section of SR 503.

The End Result
SR 503 in the vicinity of Gabriel Road will have better visibility and signing for drivers approaching the intersection.

What is the project timeline?
Work on this particular project is set to be completed by Fall 2008. A specific date will be announced later this Spring.

Pre-Existing Funds - $120,000
2005 Gas Tax (Partnership funding) - $381,000

Total Funding Available: $501,000
