Overview
On Oct. 11, 2009, a massive landslide uplifted and destroyed a quarter mile of State Route 410 and changed the landscape and river dynamics of the Nile Valley forever. WSDOT and many other agencies established an emergency route around the landslide. In addition, Governor Gregoire tasked WSDOT and crews to build a temporary detour route which crews completed on Nov. 24, 2009.
A new route along the toe of the landslide will be open to traffic fall 2012.
 | Improves Safety
The project rerouted traffic away from the landslide.
|
 | Economic Incentive
The temporary detour kept SR 410 through the Nile Valley open as a cross-state route.

This project won numerous local, state and national awards for WSDOT's emergency response effort.
