Status

November 2009

The construction contract for this project was awarded to Petersen Brothers, Inc. of Sumner on Jan. 21, 2009.

Construction began on July 6, 2009 and was substantially complete on August 19, 2009.

Why is WSDOT making spot safety improvements in this corridor?
This heavily-used route is the main connector between Poulsbo and the Kingston ferry dock. Ferry traffic and local development have contributed to increased traffic volumes.

Parts of SR 307 and SR 104 in this vicinity have been identified as high accident locations and a high accident corridor.

The End Result
Once complete, safety improvements made in this project will help to reduce the frequency and severity of collisions.

Improvements include new guardrail, improved lighting at two intersections, sight-distance improvements, and realignment of the SR 307/Port Gamble Road intersection.

Project Benefits
 • Safety. The safety improvements in this project are intended to reduce the frequency and severity of collisions and run-off-the-road incidents.

 • Congestion Relief. This project improves mobility through the corridor, especially at the intersection of SR 307 and Port Gamble Road.

What is the project timeline?
