Overview
This preservation project paved 2.82 miles of SR 28 from 9th Street to the US 2/97/SR 28 intersection, excluding the section from 31st to Hadley paved during the 2007 SR 28B widening project. It also paved 1.52 miles of US 2/97 north of the Odbashian Bridge intersection. Construction began July 27th and was complete September 10th, 2008.

Provides a smoother driving surface.
Installed new curb and gutter, guardrail, new striping and pavement markings, centerline rumble strip and ADA compliant sidewalk.

 | Economic Incentive
Resurfacing the roadway at this best lifecycle timing is four times less expensive than rebuilding the roadway had it been allowed to deteriorate further.

School and transit bus pull outs were included in this project.
Funding
This project was advertised for private contractor bids on April 7, 2008. Two qualified bids were opened on May 8th. Contract #7539 was awarded on May 12th to Granite Northwest, Inc., dba Basin Asphalt for $1,239,239.00, 20% under the engineering estimate.
This project is funded through the following sources:
- Pre-Existing Gas Tax - $4.09 million
- Total funding from all sources - $4.09 million
