2009
• In preliminary design.
• Construction planned for 2010.
The current bridge that crosses Pine Creek is structurally deficient and due for replacement. In addition, during snow melt periods, water can flow across the low-lying roadway.
Why is WSDOT
replacing the Pine Creek Bridge?
The Pine Creek bridge is a treated timber structure built in 1937. It has reached the end of its useful life and is due for replacement. In addition, the roadway is only a few feet above the normal level of the creek and water periodically flows across the highway.
The End Result
A new bridge, built to current standards, will replace the existing structure. the roadway will also be raised to reduce the chance of water flowing across the highway.
Project Benefits
• New Structure built to current standards.
• Fewer highway closures.
