September/October 2011
• Awarded to Thompson Bros. Excavating of Vancouver, WA with a constrction bid of $2,301,453.
• Bridge is open to traffic.
The current bridge that crosses Pine Creek is structurally deficient and due for replacement. In addition, during snow melt periods, water can flow across the low-lying roadway.
Why is WSDOT
replacing the Pine Creek Bridge?
The Pine Creek bridge is a treated timber structure built in 1937. It has reached the end of its useful life and is due for replacement. In addition, the roadway is only a few feet above the normal level of the creek and water periodically flows across the highway.
The End Result
A new bridge, built to current standards, will replace the existing structure. the roadway will also be raised to reduce the chance of water flowing across the highway.
Project Benefits
• New Structure built to current standards.
• Fewer highway closures.
What is the project timeline?
- Construction was originally scheduled for 2007 in the original TPA program.
- Construction will start in March 2010 and be completed in 2010.
