Complete August 2011
Construction began May 16 and was complete within 40 working days on August 4. 2011.
This roadway preservation project resurfaced 11.21 miles of SR-26 from the Grant County Line to SR-17, just east of Othello.
Why is WSDOT
chip sealing and paving this section of SR-26?
The roadway needed pavement restoration due to the deterioration of the existing asphalt driving surface. The roadway was preserved with pavement repairs and a chip seal between MP 31.17 and MP 40.40, and with a Hot Mix Asphalt overlay between MP 40.40 and MP 42.38.
The End Result
This project restored structural integrity, extended pavement life, and updated safety features including striping, signage, rumble strips and reflective pavement markers.
Project Benefits
- Extends roadway life
- Provides a smoother driving surface
- Updates safety features
