- The existing timber bridge was destroyed by grass fire on August 21. WSDOT maintenance crews installed a culvert and gravel fill to re-open the highway by the evening of August 22.
- In the spring of 2010, WSDOT will construct a large box culvert to accommodate the runoff from Dry Creek.
Why is WSDOT
replacing Dry Creek bridge?
On August 21, 2009, the Dry Creek bridge burned as a result of a grass fire. Prior to the fire the bridge was scheduled for replacement because it was structurally deficient.
The End Result
There will be a new crossing at Dry Creek that meets current WSDOT standards.
Project Benefits
- Safety. The new roadway will be built to current standards that are safer for motorists.
What is the project timeline?
Project design began in spring 2008. Construction of the new crossing is scheduled for 2010.

This project is funded through the following sources*:
- 2005 Transportation Partnership Package - $0.4 million
- Total Funding Available from all sources - $2.3 million
*As approved in the 2009 Transportation Budget.
