Overview
We will complete safety improvements to more than six miles of State Route 203 just north of the King County Line. These improvements include a new left-turn lane at N High Rock Road, new guardrail and shoulder rumble strips, updated signs, pavement markings and lighting.

Why is WSDOT completing safety improvements to SR 203?
Since 2002, there have been 348 collisions along this stretch of SR 203, and 120 of those collisions resulted in injuries. Completing improvements to this section of the highway will improve driver safety and reduce the likelihood of future collisions.

The End Result
We will complete intersection improvements and install new guardrail, shoulder rumble strips, pavement markings and signage to improve safety on SR 203.

Project Benefits
Safety - Shoulder rumble strips and guardrail will improve driver safety by reducing the likelihood and potentail severity of run-off-the-road collisions. A new left-turn lane at the intersection of SR 203 and N High Rock Road will increase safety for drivers attempting to turn across oncoming traffic.

What is the project timeline?
This project is currently in design. We expect to start construction in spring 2010.
