Overview
Crews built a two-lane modern roundabout on State Route 203 at NE 124th Street near Duvall. The roundabout moves more traffic more quickly and greatly improves safety.
 | Improves Safety
The roundabout has virtually eliminated the chance for serious accidents at this intersection.
|
 | Relieves Congestion
The roundabout moves more traffic more quickly by yielding at the entry rather than stopping and waiting for a green light.
|
 | Protects Environment
A reduction in delay corresponds to a decrease in fuel consumption and air pollution.
The roundabout project affected .71 acres of wetlands. WSDOT created a new wetland mitigation site, adding 1.21 acres of wetlands.
|
 | Economic Incentive
Roundabouts eliminate maintenance and electricity costs associated with traffic signals, which amount to approximately $3000 per year.
Fewer traffic delays also translate to a greater economic benefit.

Partnerships & Cooperation
At WSDOT we seek to address the concerns of the tribal nations using the process outlined in Section 106 of The National Historic Preservation Act and the WSDOT Tribal Consultation Policy adopted in 2003 by the Transportation Commission as part of the WSDOT Centennial Accord Plan.
This project is exempt from the Section 106 process according to provisions of the Programmatic Agreement signed on July 18, 2000 between the Washington State Department of Transportation, the Federal Highway Administration, the State Historic Preservation Officer, and the Advisory Council on Historic Preservation.
For more information visit our WSDOT Tribal Liaison Web site.
