SR 20 - Thompson Road - Complete October 2007

Overview
We installed a traffic signal at the intersection of Thompson Road and SR 20 in Anacortes. We will also widened the roadway at Thompson Road and built right turn pockets to improve traffic circulation and reduce the risk of collisions.

In addition, we paved stretches of SR 20 between Sharpes Corner and Memorial Highway (SR 536).

How You Benefit
Cross GlyphImproves Safety
The traffic signal at Thompson Road and SR 20 will reduce collisions and make it safer for traffic on Thompson Road to enter SR 20 safely.
Car GlyphRelieves Congestion
In addition to the signal, we installed a signal interconnect system between Sharpe’s Corner, March Point Road, Thompson Road, and Reservation Road. This system will coordinate the traffic signals to help move large groups of vehicles through the intersections quickly and efficiently, and with little delay.

Partnerships & Cooperation
We worked with the city of Anacortes to install the new signal and make improvements at Thompson Road. They paid 40 percent of the cost of the new traffic signal.
