Project Complete August 2011
Construction began May 2 and was complete August 31, 2011.
This roadway preservation project repaved 3.68 miles of SR 171 through the City of Moses Lake and upgraded sidewalk ramps to comply with current American's with Disabilities Act standards.
Why is WSDOT
pave and improve this section of SR 171?
The roadway was in need of pavement restoration due to the deterioration of the existing asphalt. The roadway was improved with stronger asphalt to preserve the load carrying capacity of the roadway. Improvements to sidewalk ramps and other spot safety were also included in this project.
The End Result
This project restored the structural integrity of the pavement and improved roadway safety with the installation of new pavement markings. Sidewalk ramps were upgraded to current American's with Disabilities Act standards.

The project was advertised for private contractor bids Dec. 20, 2010. Two qualified bids were opened Jan. 20, 2011. On Jan. 24, contract #8074 was awarded to Granite Northwest, Inc. for $2,014,000.00, 13% under the engineering estimate.
