SNAPSHOTS FROM THE FIELD

Swan has left Tacoma Narrows for South Korea. Late last week, deck-lifting equipment was transferred from the SWAN to its sister cargo ship, the TEAL, in Commencement Bay. Early on Monday morning, September 25, the SWAN left Commencement Bay to begin its return trip to South Korea for the remaining 15 deck sections for the new bridge deck. This week construction crews will trapeze deck sections into place to make room for the TEAL's next 15 deck sections. The TEAL should arrive at the bridge site late this week or early next week. Bridge enthusiasts will also see Deck Section #43 lifted from the barge Marmac to its suspender cables mid-week. Mariners are advised to watch the mariner's update for changing restrictions (see mariner's daily update).
