Dressing it up with “suspenders” - No, not the
kind your grandpa wore:
Suspension cable crews are working two 10-hour shifts to complete the
north cable and finish installing bands on the south cable. Daily commuters
probably have noticed the “suspenders.” The vertical cables
that will one day connect the bridge deck to the main cables now dangle
in mid-air. The suspenders are hung from the large castings (bands) attached
to the 20.5-inch steel ropes. A single cable band connect two suspenders
and sometimes three and four vertical cables.
