Last week, workers stretched a 'pilot line,' a 5/8-inch
steel cable, between land and the top of the Tacoma tower, matching the
work previously done on the Gig Harbor tower. Next, crews will begin installing
the catwalk mesh. Cable spinning begins in September, and when it is complete,
a pair of 20½-inch cables will support the weight of the deck and the
vehicles it carries.
