September 25, 2004, marked the second anniversary of the project's "Notice to Proceed," at which point design and construction on the new Tacoma Narrows Bridge began in earnest. Since then a tremendous amount of work has been accomplished, both on land and in the water. This 5.5 year project is already 50% complete and work continues at an impressive pace.
