New Tacoma Narrows Park
The Narrows Park is one of the peninsula’s best-kept secrets. Situated on the
shores of the Tacoma Narrows and south of the bridge, the 35-acre park features
1,200 feet of sandy-rock beach - and the best place to watch construction of
the new Narrows Bridge. The Pierce County park underwent an extensive renovation
in 2003 and reopened in June 2004. A paved road takes visitors inside to the
landscaped grounds and beach. A walkway winds toward a gazebo and the sandy-rock
beach. Two telescopes provide beach and bridge buffs alike a closeup view of
the bridge and new construction.

The 2003-2004 renovations at Narrows Park (formerly Doc Weather’s) were a year-long collaborative effort between WSDOT, Pierce County Parks and Recreation, and Tacoma Narrows Constructors. The Gig Harbor Historical Society and the City of Gig Harbor have participated in organizing and contributing to the kick-off celebration.
