SR 169 - SR 516 Four Corners - Complete October 2007

Overview
The city of Maple Valley and Gary Merlino Construction Co. made improvements to the the SR 169/SR 516 intersection, also known as the "Four Corners" intersection. The city widened the roadway to add lanes and turn pockets, installed a new signal at SE 264th Street, and built new bike lanes, sidewalks, curbs and gutters.

The improvements will significantly reduce the number and severity of rear-end and sideswipe collisions. New sidewalks and bike lanes will also improve safety for pedestrians and bicyclists.

Over the next 10 years, it's estimated that the average travel time savings for drivers will be a total of 150,000 hours annually.

Traffic will flow more efficiently through the intersection and drivers will have better access to businesses in the area.

Partnerships & Cooperation
WSDOT supported the city of Maple Valley throughout this project.

In September 2005, WSDOT initiated formal Section 106 consultation with the Snoqualmie Tribe, Muckleshoots and Yakama Tribes for this project. In December, we forwarded a copy of the Cultural Resource Survey produced for this project.
