Overview
WSDOT added a new signal and right turn lane to the northbound State Route 167 exit to Ellingson Road.
 | Improves Safety
The new signal and turn lane will help decrease rear-end and sideswipe collisions by giving right-turning motorists their own lane in which to wait to make their turn.
|
 | Relieves Congestion
With these new measures, drivers can get through the intersection faster.
|
 | Protects Environment
WSDOT chose to use a signal rather than a roundabout at this location to avoid excessive impacts to environmentally sensitive areas.
|
Partnerships & Cooperation
There are several wetlands and a stream located in the project vicinity. Although the project does not affect these sensitive areas directly, it does affect approximately 400 square feet of wetland buffer. WSDOT worked with the city of Pacific to determine a course of action that lessened the effect of the project on the environment.
