SR 164 - 158th Avenue SE to High Point Street - Complete July 2007

Overview
In this project we improved the intersections of 158th Avenue SE, SE 392nd Street, 196th Avenue SE, 212th Avenue SE, 228th Avenue SE, and 244th Avenue SE along SR 164 west of Enumclaw.

In addition, we paved and restriped the roadway between 196th SE and High Point Street, installed guardrail and moved some telephone poles away from the roadway.

These improvements will enhance safety, improve visibility and improve the driving surface on SR 164 between Auburn and Enumclaw.

How You Benefit
Cross GlyphImproves Safety
New turn lanes, improved visibility, wider shoulders, additional guardrail and a smooth driving survace will help reduce the likelihood of collisions on SR 164 between Auburn and Enumclaw.
Car GlyphRelieves Congestion
Improvements to the intersections will help improve the flow of traffic at those locations. Reducing the likelihood of collisions will keep traffic moving on SR 164.
Leaf Glyph Protects Environment
We built an environmental mitigation site to compensate for the project's effect on the environment. Crews also installed a new, larger culvert underneath SR 164 at 196th Avenue SE to improve the potential for fish passage and reduce the likelihood of flooding.

Partnerships & Cooperation

At WSDOT we seek to address the concerns of the tribal nations using the process outlined in Section 106 of The National Historic Preservation Act and the WSDOT Tribal Consultation Policy adopted in 2003 by the Transportation Commission as part of the WSDOT Centennial Accord Plan.

On this project WSDOT, the Muckleshoot Indian Tribe, and the State Historic Preservation Officer developed a Memorandum of Agreement to address effects to historic resources in the project area.
