  • WSF awarded the contract for this project to Transportation Systems, Inc.

Construction will take place at the Southworth Ferry Terminal in summer 2012. This work will include replacement of the sub-standard timber luminaire poles adjacent to the ferry terminal exit lanes. The project will also include relocation of the existing aerial cable to below ground and replacement of any deficient guardrail.

Why is WSDOT replacing these luminaires?
Currently these poles are leaning heavily and may pose a risk of falling over. The power lines that feed the terminals are attached to these poles, so in the case of unexpected failure terminal operations could be impacted.

The End Result
When work is complete these poles will not pose a safety hazard. The new lights will be more efficient LED lights.

Project Benefits
The safety issue will be taken care of and possible operational impacts will be avoided.
