Overview
The SR 141 White Salmon River Bridge is a two-lane, steel-truss bridge located in the town of Husum, 9 miles north of SR 14 in western Klickitat County. Built in 1940, the bridge carries about 2,700 drivers over the White Salmon River every day.

SR 141 is an important transportation link for the towns of Husum and Trout Lake, and a key route for those pursuing recreation along the White Salmon River and in the Mt. Adams area.

Why is WSDOT painting the White Salmon River Bridge?

Like a home, steel bridges have to be painted on a regular basis to protect them from the elements.

The 74-year-old SR 141 White Salmon River Bridge was last painted in 1988. The protective coating on the bridge was deteriorating, exposing the steel to the weather and elements, which resulted in corrosion that can weaken the structure over time.

Stripping old paint and rust and reapplying specialty bridge paint protects the structure for approximately 20 years.
