New SR 116 Portage Canal Bridge Railing
The upgraded railing is stronger and safer. 
The two-tube design preserves the scenic view. 

 

Overview

This safety improvement project strengthened the bridge rail to meet current safety standards.

Construction began in November 2007 and wrapped up in February 2008. Petersen Brothers, Inc. was the contractor for the project.

Strengthened rail posts, additional guardrail and new guardrail terminals make this bridge safer for motorists.

During construction, special measures were taken to ensure construction debris did not fall into the water.
