SR 112 - Makah Reservation to US 101 - Stage Two Safety

This project is the second stage of safety improvements on SR 112. The first stage of improvements were completed in October 2008.

This project is currently under construction.

Why is WSDOT making safety improvements on SR 112?
Safety improvements included in this project are designed to reduce the severity and frequency of run-off-the-road type collisions.

One section of the roadway is identified as a high accident corridor and two locations are deemed high accident locations. 

The End Result
This safety improvement project installs advanced signing, installs guardrail and drainage structures, flattens slopes, removes roadside hazards, and relocates utilities on this 61 mile stretch of SR 112.

Project Benefits
This project will result in a reduction of the number and severity of collisions on this section of roadway.

What is the project timeline?
The project is currently under construction.
Construction began on June 1, 2009 and should be completed by the end of October 2009.

Financial Information

This project (includes both Stages) is funded through the following sources:

  • Pre-existing Funds : $6,011,597
  • TPA (2005 Gas Tax) : $1,187,245

      Total Funding Available From All Sources - $7,198,842
