Overview
The track suffered from years of deferred maintenance. Construction began in September 2006 and was completed in March 2007. The sections most in need of rehabilitation were improved with new ties, rail and ballast.
 | Improves Safety
The rehabilitation work ensures the continued safe operation of trains over these tracks.
|
 | Economic Incentive
The rehabilitated rail line will help attract new rail-dependent industries to the area and allows existing industries to use the line.
|
Partnerships & Cooperation
WSDOT worked with port districts, county governments and rail-dependent shippers to preserve this rail system.
