I-5 - Martin Way to 48th Street - NB and SB Concrete Pavement Rehabilitation - Complete October 2010

Overview
WSDOT replaced damaged concrete panels and installed more than 56,000 dowel bars to support the roadway on 25.5 miles of I-5 between Martin Way in Lacey and 48th Street in Tacoma to create a smoother driving surface.

The new, smoother road surface and less bumps and cracks in the roadway.

When there's a large pothole on I-5, maintenace crews are called out to make emergency repairs. The new panels eliminate existing holes and ruts, eliminating the frequent calls for pavement repairs.
Dollar Sign Glyph Economic Incentive
This project preserves the freeways' structural integrity and extends its lifespan.

Partnerships & Cooperation
Project funding includes $10.5 million from the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (federal stimulus funding).
