Status

Spring 2012

This project is being advertised for private constractor bids on June 25, 2012, with the bid opening scheduled in July.

This I-2 Safety Improvement project replaces sidewalks, ramps, and other pedestrian access features in the North Central Region, along state highways, but outside cities, in order to meet current Federal and State Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) standards.

Why is WSDOT upgrading ADA facilities?

ADA non compliant parking, ramps, sidewalks and highway crossings limit accessibility to pedestrians with disabilities.

Improvements are being made at the following locations:

  • Omak Area - Upgrading ADA ramps and rebuilding island at SR 215/SR 97
  • Manson Area - Improving mid-block crossing and replacing ADA ramps
  • Blue Lake Rest Area - Replacing ADA ramp
  • East Wenatchee Area - Replacing ADA ramps.
  • Quincy Rest Area - Replacing ADA ramps and sidewalk.
  • Moses Lake Area - Improving access to existing pedestrian push button poles.
  • Vantage Vista Areas - placing new ADA ramps, replacing sidewalk and adding ADA ramps and parking spots.

The End Result
This project will bring out of date ADA facilities up to current Federal Standards, including wheel chair curb ramps, sidewalks and making pedestrian crossing push buttons more accessible.
