This project is being advertised for private constractor bids on June 25, 2012, with the bid opening scheduled in July.
This I-2 Safety Improvement project replaces sidewalks, ramps, and other pedestrian access features in the North Central Region, along state highways, but outside cities, in order to meet current Federal and State Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) standards.
Why is WSDOT
upgrading ADA facilities?
ADA non compliant parking, ramps, sidewalks and highway crossings limit accessibility to pedestrians with disabilities.

The End Result
This project will bring out of date ADA facilities up to current Federal Standards, including wheel chair curb ramps, sidewalks and making pedestrian crossing push buttons more accessible.
