Overview
Heavy traffic starting and stopping as well as wear from studded tires has deformed the current asphalt roadway surface, creating 1" to 2" ruts in the pavement. We removed the deficient asphalt pavement and replaced it with ten inches of Portland Cement Concrete Pavement (PCCP). The End Result was a smooth rigid pavement with a longer service life that will support heavy traffic.
In addition to the PCCP this project also replaced the existing traffic signal components such as conduits, conductors, and detector loops which have exceeded their service life at the south ramp terminal intersections of Pines Road and Sullivan Road.
 | Improves Safety
Increased safety with the repair of rutted asphalt pavement. Concrete pavement is stronger and more durable than asphalt pavement and will not deform under heavy traffic loads
|
 | Economic Incentive
The purpose of this project was to rehabilitate the existing intersection pavement to preserve pavement structure, achieve lowest life cycle cost for pavement service life, and maintain safe operation of the roadway.
